70 percent mental health patients in community suffers anemia

After the mental health budget from Bali’s government being cut 90% in year 2010 does not make Suryani Institute stop their service to the mentally ill people. Leaving the patients back to their dark side situation and left them with no treatment is not something that the institute have in their heart. In-fact with all the effort they can provide for the patients, the institute uncovered more dark reality that 70 percent of the mental health patients in community suffers anemia.

“It’s a reality that shocked me to see the patients become no energy and have no intention to work after our treatment were mostly because there’s not enough blood in their body due to anemia condition”, said Professor Luh Ketut Suryani during one of her regular visit to community last week in Karangasem Regency.

“This is an example how our government never think holistic on doing treatment for their people”, add Professor Suryani that accompany by institute visitors from Jakarta to see the reality behind the glamor of Balinese tourism. With more lips service were put on the news from government side to create good image in public will create a devastating condition for mentally ill patients in community.
